For Valentine's Day this year Allan and I went to the Miss Shirley's at the Inner Harbor for dinner. It was our first time having an evening meal there since they only host dinner there once a year.

Below are scenes of the delicious food that we had from their 3 course prix-fix menu ($49/person). Notice the heart shapes found in some of the dishes.

I started off with the Baby Arugula & Red Beet Salad, which was filled with
red beets, shiitake mushrooms, vidalia onion, yellow tomato, topped with fried goat cheese and balsamic vinaigrette.

Then, I had the Wild Mushroom Cristo, which included egg and cheese battered challah, wild mushroom ragout, and balsamic marinated tempeh.
The cristo was surrounded by delicious baby zucchini with red wine vinaigrette and garnished with herb salad.

Allan ordered the the Pan-Seared Rockfish over shrimp porcini risotto with brocollini, beurre rouge, and garnished with parmesan tuile.

Next came dessert. I couldn't make up my mind but went with the Lemon Cake in the end. It was soft, moist and sweet -- the whipped cream, berry compote with powdered sugar were perfect complements.

Allan ordered the Chocolate Fudge Bourbon Pecan Torte, which was
topped with chocolate ganache, chocolate hearts, and pecans
and garnished with fresh berries.

At the end of our meal, our waitress handed us a small tin of pink and red Miss Shirley and Valentine's Day themed M&Ms.

I was expecting it be loud and chaotic throughout our meal. But I was pleasantly surprised by a calm, mellow atmosphere that was perfect for a romantic night out.

I highly recommend this next year for those who haven't tried it.

RAIN!  At least it's not snow!

I've been a huge Madonna fan since I was a little girl. Yet, I still haven't seen her live. She plans to tour again this year but I haven't been able to find out whether she's coming to Baltimore. Sources say she's playing in Philly. But does anyone know if she plans on playing anywhere closer? DC maybe?

After a long week, the license plate on the car in front of me at the Gay Street and Baltimore Street intersection gave me a chuckle.

Not to mention that "Nobody" thankfully didn't drive like a gimp.
