My neighbor and friend happens to be a licensed, practicing acupuncturist (check out her website here), I've done it twice within the past couple of weeks and highly recommend it. Here are a few reasons why:
1) You will probably get better sleep. Before I started acupuncture, I was getting anywhere from 4-7 hours of sleep a night, sometimes less, even after climbing in bed for 12 hours at a time. We all know that sleep helps your body heal, and after acupuncture you will feel much more relaxed than usual.
2) It's not as scary or painful as you might think. Sure, you might feel a pinch here or there, but otherwise, it's painless. The needles are really thin and if they weird you out as much as they freak me out, don't look when your acupuncturist puts them in.
3)There's nothing to lose. Acupuncture can help with a lot of different pain or nausea related problems. Everyone's body reacts differently. It may help you, it might not. If it doesn't work for you, you might not get the payback on how much you spent on a treatment but at least there aren't any scary side effects or icky chemical reactions.
