I don't why I thought getting contact lenses would be easy. I spent nearly two hours at the eye doctor's today practicing putting them in and taking them out. It still seems impossible.

Two tips that I recommend for anyone ever going to get them for the first time are:

1) Don't wear eye makeup. I don't know why I put on mascara before heading over. I never do when I go in for check-ups. It was a dumb idea.

2) Make sure your nails are short. I grew mine out recently and was just about to paint them pink again, but had to borrow a pair of nail scissors in order to be able to pull a damn contact lens out of my damn eye. Again, another palm to the forehead kind of moment.

Despite all the frustration and, dare I say, stress that I experienced today, it was kind of cool to see myself without glasses for the first time in years. I was also able to brush off the dust of an old pair of sunglasses and wear them, which was exciting as well.

Google street view image of where Charm City Cupcakes is moving.
Speaking of discoveries ... on my way home from a grocery trip at the Whole Foods in Mt. Washington, I noticed that Charm City Cupcakes is in the process of moving into a small brick building behind the Framin' Place. I hardly noticed it, but I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw "Charm City Cupcakes" and an unlit "OPEN" sign in the window.

My guess is that they'll be moving into a larger space in no time. Does anyone know when they officially open?
